Tyler A. Robertson Season 4 Episode 65

Recently, the Catholic Pope said, "There’s only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are Sheik, Muslim, Hindu, Christian, and they are different paths [to God]"

Is this claim in line with the Bible? Are all religions really just different paths to God? Join us, as we take a look at God's Word and see why the Pope is wrong...

EP 65 - The Pope is Wrong - Jesus is the Only

Muslims do not share the Christian belief in Jesus crucifixion think about that statement, though Muslims do not share the Christian belief in Jesus's crucifixion like they literally don't believe that Jesus was crucified. According to the Koran, and Jesus was assumed or taken up to the realm of God to spare him such a fate. And they don't even believe he was crucified. Think about the irony of that. With the Catholic Pope sitting there with what around his neck, he's literally sitting there with a cross around his neck and Christ on that cross. Else being crucified and he's saying to these Muslims and saying to these Hindus and others that we are all one, we are all the same. We are, God is all of the same and I would submit to you that our God is not the same. The God that I worship is the God of the Bible. The king of the universe, and we find him in the person and the work of Jesus Christ. Hey, guys, it's Tyler. Welcome to the podcast where we talk Faith, family and focus and our life and our business. And today we're talking about a statement that was made this past week by the Catholic Pope, Pope Francis. And a statement that he made about world religions being all the same and worshipping the same God. I don't normally weigh in on a lot of these cultural things, but today, as a disciple of Jesus, and especially as a preacher of the Gospel of Christ, I feel like I've got to weigh in on this, hopefully to provide some clarity. About who Jesus really is, how you can actually go to heaven. What is the gospel and do we. Worship the same God as Hindus do we worship the same God as Muslims? Let's take a look at the clip from the interreligious meeting with young people in Singapore, and let's see what the Pope passed to say, and then we'll go back to God's word and say, OK, is this actually true? Is this right? Is this biblical? Let's take a look.

Two teller religion. So Camino Privalia deal.

Because every religion is a way to arrive at God.

So no. Verona comparison. Soon comedy verse leading way.

Sort of a comparison. An example would be there sort of like different languages in order to arrive at God.

Had the opportunity.

But God is is God for all.

A committee or the opportunity? Noi Shamu tutti filing video.

And if God is God for all, then we're all sons and daughters of God. Important tool, but my God is more important than your God. Is that true?

You know, so if you become very, very ideal.

There's only one God, and each of us is a language, so to speak, in order to arrive at God. Indo Christian.

Come in.

There are there are different paths.

Understood.

Right.

And there you have it. Unity unity everywhere as the crowd applauds. Understand what Pope Francis actually said. OK, he said. And I quote, all religions are a path to God. You have to look at this and you have to. Say is this true? All religions, are they all a path to God? Well, I mean, think about it for just a second. Think about what Hindus actually believe. Hindus believe in the doctrine of Samsara, and I think I'm pronouncing that correctly, the continuous cycle. Of life, death and reincarnation, and they believe in Karma, one of the key thoughts of Hinduism is Atman or the belief in the soul. This philosophy holds that living creatures have a soul and they're all part of the supreme soul. The goal is to achieve Masha or Moksha or salvation which. Ends the cycle of rebirth to become part of the absolute soul. So honestly, think about every second from a Hindus perspective. Do you worship the same God as the Bible, the God of the Bible? Who says if you call on me I will save you? And the same God who looked as he was being crucified. He looked at the thief next to him, and then he said today you're going to be with me in Paradise. Not a reincarnated creature or a some kind of other being, but you are going to be with me, right? It's amazing how complicated we try to make this thing of salt. How complicated we try to make this pursuit of God when God is revealed himself to us in Scripture, God has revealed himself to us through his creation, and I don't know about you, but looking at the Hindu faith, I don't feel like there's any commonality between Hindus and Christianities other than maybe. Their moral conduct? Hindus, they have a a very. A high sense of morality and that they try to do their best to do good deeds to other people, which is great, right? That's amazing. But at the same time, when it comes to their eternal soul and how their soul is being saved, I really don't see any commonalities between US and Hindu religion. And then think about Muslims. There's Muslims. That were represented there, as Pope Francis is saying, this statement that all religions are under all paths to God, Muslims, they speak of God as Allah. That is just their generic term for God, but really the question is what do they believe about Jesus? What do they believe about Jesus? Christ tells you a lot about where a religion stands in the context of Scripture. Well, Muslims do not believe in Jesus's divinity and do not consider Jesus the son of God. We could stop right there, but it goes. On inislamiccity.org goes on to say for to do so would be to contradict the Koranic concept of God's unity or his oneness. Furthermore, since the concept of original sin does not exist in Islam, neither Jesus nor any other prophet or person plays a redemptive role in human salvation. In other words, there's no concept of vicarious atonement in Islam. Moreover, Muslims do not share the Christian belief in Jesus's crucifixion. Think about that statement, though. Muslims do not share the Christian belief in Jesus's crucifixion like they literally don't believe that Jesus was crucified according to the Koran, Jesus was assumed or taken up to the realm of God to spare him such a fate. And they don't even believe he was crucified. Think about the irony of that with the Catholic Pope sitting there. With what? Around his neck, he's literally sitting there with a cross around his neck and Christ on that cross being crucified. And he's saying to these Muslims and saying to these Hindus and others that we are all one, we are all the same. We, our God, is all of the same, and I would submit to you that our God is not the same. The God that I worship is the God of the Bible, the king of the universe, and we find him in the person and the work of Jesus Christ. I believe that Scripture teaches us that Christ came down to this. Earth lived a perfect life in a human body was the perfect sacrifice for us. By putting our faith and trust in him. That is the only way that we can go to heaven. So I don't see how we as Christians serve the same God as a Muslim or the same God as Hindu. I see similarity. Those are many religions. Still respect Christ as a prophet or as a person, but understand if you don't believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God who takes away the sins of the world, it's by trusting in that the finished and complete work of Jesus Christ. On the cross not doing, not believing in that, and then having to go to mass or not believing in that and having to do something else. But if you believe by faith in the gospel alone and what Jesus did for you on the cross, that is the only way. To go to heaven, that is the only way to be 1 of God's children. Let me prove this from Scripture. The Bible says in John 14, Jesus sayeth unto him, these are Jesus's words. I am the way right. He literally looks at his lawyers. He says I am the way. I'm the way, not you and you and you and you and you and the Romans are the way. And. And the Samaritans are the way. And whatever the gods that they bring into their household, or whatever idols they bring into their home. Yeah, they're they're. They're the way. No, I am the way. See the definite article there.

Right.

And no man cometh unto the father, but by me not of the Samaritan gods, that they bring into their home, and they worship. Yeah, they're the way to or the Roman gods that they worship. Yeah, they're. I guess they're all passed to me. No, he said, I am the way he said in another part of Scripture. In John 10, I am the door. By me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved. It shall go in and out and find Pastor. Think about that. Christ is saying I am the door. To heaven I am the door to God. If you want a relationship with God, if you want to be saved, I am the door. You must go through me. Not believing that I existed. Not believing that I was a good prophet, but believing in me that I am the perfect sacrifice to take away your sins. The Bible also says in acts Chapter 4, be it known unto you all to all people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom Ye Crush. Defied whom God raised from the dead, even by him. Death. This man stand here before you hold. This is the stone which was set at the knot of your builders, which has become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other. Get that? There's no salvation in any other right? Not through Allah. Not through Buddha, not through Mohammed. It is through Jesus Christ that we can obtain salvation. The Bible tells us for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The way that we can go to heaven and have a relationship with God. Is simply by believing in Christ and what he did for us on the cross that he came down on this earth. He lived a perfect life, being the perfect sacrifice for us. And because we are a Sinner, we do not deserve heaven. We don't deserve to be in a perfect place with a perfect God. But Jesus came down this earth, lived a perfect life, dying on the cross for our sins was the perfect sacrifice for us and showing that he was the son of God, not just another prophet. He was the son of God. Three days later. What it is he. He rose from the dead. And what does Paul say? That without the resurrection, man, the crucifixion. It's it's not. It's nothing. We have a hopeless gospel if there's not a resurrection. That's why there's so many religions and so many other people of faith and of religion that do not claim the resurrection of Christ, because that would give merit to his deity. That would give us validity to the fact that he was indeed. The son of God and Jesus, what did he do? He died on the cross. He rose again the third day, and by trusting in him we can have an eternal home in heaven and a relationship with God. For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves. It's the gift of. God not of works, lest any man should boast so many of this and looking at what other religions believe and what they preach and what they teach, it's amazing to me how so many of them have a high respect for the Lord Jesus Christ to have a high respect of him. And they say, oh, he's a great prophet. He was still a mouthpiece of God and. All of these things, but yet they don't believe that he was truly the son of God. That takes away the sins of the world. They don't believe that he was who he said he was, and even if they do believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God, they believe is Jesus plus something else. It's Jesus. We gotta put faith and trust in Jesus. We gotta put our faith and trust in the gospel. And also we have to do this. And also we have to do this on a regiment, right? They make it about our works. When the Bible says for by grace, you say through faith that not in yourself, it's the gift. Of God, what do you have to do for? Gift you don't work for it, right? It's that would be a reward. You simply receive it Christmas morning. What do you do to those kids? You simply receive. You don't have to work for them. And God says to you that salvation is a gift. Jesus Christ. His life on the cross was a gift of salvation. To you and all you have to do is reach out and take it. If you've never trusted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, can I just encourage you? God loves you. Don't be confused by. Oh well. I've gotta work and I've gotta do this and I gotta be perfect. The law, when it comes to just abiding by the rules, that is our school master to show us that we are imperfect beings, that we are truly sinners and we don't deserve heaven, but Jesus Christ stepped in, he down on the cross for you. And he loves you so much that he wants to take you to heaven one day and he wants to have a relationship with you right now. Now. So if you've never done that, all you've got to do is simply call out to him. The Bible says, whosoever that means anybody, no matter if you're Hindu, Muslim background, it doesn't matter what religion you come from, what ethnicity you are. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. And if you've never done that. Just bow your head. Talk to. God say God save me. It's really that simple. I believe that you died for me and that you rose again the third day. I believe that you can take away my sin and then you can take me to heaven one day. It's truly that simple. I made that decision when I was seven years old and it was the best decision that I ever made. And. My life, and if you've never done that, I want you to trust him today. If you've got any other questions about how to be saved, what the gospel truly is, please comment below or message us. I would love the chance to speak to you and to show you from God's word again how you can be saved. The Lord loves you. He wants to save you. And don't believe the lies so many are proclaiming that these are all all religions are just past the God that we're all just on our journey to God. That may be true, that we're on our journey to God, but understand there's only one way. Go to heaven. There's only one way to have a pure and right relationship with God. That is through the son Jesus Christ.
